Sherwood Queenstown is a 3-star hotel located in Queenstown, New Zealand. We stayed here for 3 nights & this review is based on our personal experience.
Queenstown is usually packed with tourists & it is very difficult to get a good accommodation during peak season. That’s why we recommend that you book your stay well in advance (4-6 months should be good enough). We also suggest that when you are in Queenstown, stay at Sherwood Queenstown. Reasons? Location of Sherwood Queenstown
Sherwood Queenstown is located just 4 km away from the city center. It is perfect because we were staying in a very peaceful location & the city was just 5 minutes drive away.
We loved the location of Sherwood Queenstown because it is located on a small hill. The Remarkables mountain range & Lake Wakatipu are visible from the hotel & most of the rooms as well.
Our favorite part of the mornings at Sherwood was to look out of the window & getting that perfect wallpaper-ish view out of our room.
Price
You would expect such property to charge a hefty amount for a stay but fortunately, Sherwood Queenstown is quite affordable & frankly, we were amazed by its pricing. This is such a luxurious property with so many facilities, great rooms & on-site restaurant, yet their pricing is so economic & perfect.
The restaurant, bar & cafe which is on the premises, also have affordable prices which made our life easier as we didn’t have to get out often just to eat
Room Quality
We stayed in a premium queen studio room with lake view. This was truly one of the best views I’ve ever seen from a hotel’s balcony. The lake, the mountains & a bit of road from the balcony made the stay worth every penny.
The room was very cozy & aesthetically decorated. It had warm vibes & the lighting was great. The desk was a welcome addition as we used to work at night. There was a kitchenette in the room with enough utensils & crockeries. We cooked in our room for one night & had no issues at all.
The toilet & bathroom were clean. Unlike other hotels, they have kept toilet, bathroom & basin separate so that 2 people can use it at the same time (Please learn from them, other hotels)!
Restaurant
On the first day at Sherwood, we had coffees from their cafe. Again, the prices were comparable to that of normal cafes. From other cafes, you won’t get to see the Remarkables & Lake Wakatipu though!
We also ate dinner at Sherwood Queenstown’s restaurant. Now it was a 5-course meal & our appetite is very low. The food was very unique, presented very well & had good flavors. While Parampara liked what she ate, I wished for more choices in the vegetarian section. Nevertheless, it was a great experience at their restaurant. The vibes were just right.
Staff
We loved the staff of Sherwood Queenstown right from the beginning. The person during our check-in process was very chirpy & friendly. The staff at the cafe, the bar & the restaurant was also very helpful & friendly.
While exploring the property, I had some nice conversations with other staff members of the hotel. Overall, they created such a nice ambiance around the property & they deserve all the points for it. Everyone on the property knew a lot about all the topics a tourist might want to know about.
Other Facilities
Sherwood Queenstown is not just a hotel with rooms & restaurant. It is much more than that. We realized that once we started exploring the property.
They have their own farm where they grow many organic fruits & vegetables. When you eat at their restaurant, it is truly farm to plate food. There are many good spots to sit around the farm.
In Summer, they also let guests use bikes inside the property because they have a dedicated bike track as well. If you are into Yoga, they have Yoga studio & workshops for it regularly. Trust Sherwood to take care of your physical & mental wellbeing during the stay.
Free Wi-Fi is great & fast. Its range of the network is everywhere inside the property. In the evening, they also have bonfires which make for a perfect evening. Coffee, conversations & bonfire = Lovely way to end your day.
Apart from all these, Sherwood Queenstown has many other amenities like Table Tennis, Workshop, Sauna, etc. which you should discover once you are there. These amenities made our stay very pleasant.
Ideology
Every hotel has an ideology that it follows but not every ideologies are perfect for the business & environment. Sherwood Queenstown has a great thought behind the business & they make sure that they are sustainable, organic & committed to local upliftment.
They have taken the utmost care to reduce their footprints on the environment. The property has community vibes from it which we didn’t get from many hotels across the world. They truly love taking care of the guests & it shows in their behavior & amenities.
Conclusion
Sherwood Queenstown is a perfect accommodation option considering its location, price, staff & amenities. The sustainability of the property is a cherry on top.
