Review: The Beehive Hotel & Hostel, Rome

The Beehive Rome 1

You know its the best place to stay when owners are completely dedicated to the daily maintenance of a place. The Beehive Hotel & Hostel is exactly that. You will find their owners, Linda & Steve, either at the reception or around the hostel. We spend 4 lovely days at The Beehive & here is the detailed review of the same.

Location

Location of The Beehive

You can not get a better location than this. The Beehive is located just 2 blocks away from the Roma Termini (Rome’s Main Train Station). You just have to exit from the station, walk straight for 5 mins and bam! You’re at your beautiful stay. The location of The Beehive is great not only in terms of the proximity of the train station but also because its a very lively area. There are many bars, cafes, restaurants which stay open till late. You will also find many supermarkets in & around the central station as well.

Staff of The Beehive

As I mentioned above, you will mostly find Steve or Linda at the reception. They make check-in process feel like you’re coming back to your own house. You will also meet other nice staff members around The Beehive. Overall, they all are a pleasant bunch of people.

Room Quality

Room at The Beehive

We stayed in a private room called The Sweets at The Beehive. It is located just around the corner in the same block. It was pretty, spacious & quaint. It also had a lovely balcony attached to it. At The Sweets, there are 5 rooms in total. There is a common area where guests can interact, prepare food & talk away about Roman holidays. They have a Kettle & utensils in case someone wants to dine there.

Dorm at The Beehive

There are dorms available at The Beehive as well. The dorms are pretty big when you compare bed to space ratio. All the dorms we saw were pretty neat & clean. Enough bathrooms are there for everyone even if the hostel is full. Beds were quite comfortable & linens were tidy.

Kitchen Quality

Kitchen Quality 1

Here’s the thing. The Beehive has a kitchen & also not. They have a kitchen where guests can you use Microwave, Kettle, Plates, Cups & Cutlery but cant use the stoves. The good side of it is that you don’t need to wash plates (heh). But don’t worry about food.

Kitchen Quality 2

They have a nice variety of breakfast that you can buy (which is delicious), Steve bakes some of the bread in the world (True story) & they also have community dinners twice a week.

Amenities

Common Room 2 The Beehive

The Beehive is full of great experiences. The hostel has an excellent WiFi connectivity. You can buy beverages directly from the reception itself. They have guitar, lovely common area, and tour options for Rome. There is also an application for The Beehive (available on App Store & Play Store) which contains all the information about the hostel, how to reach, things to see in Rome, local tips etc. I still haven’t been to any independent hostel which has its own app, that too this good!

Check out their Story telling timing. The Beehive organises story telling event once a week & it is a treat to hear all the stories of travellers. <3

Overall

The Beehive is indeed the perfect stay. It is few mins away from the main train station. It has dorms & private rooms both. Beautifully decorated hostel full of useful amenities & managed personally by a family? Yep, that’s home & not just a hostel.
