If you have ever got to Vietnam, you perhaps would never forget how mazy its Hanoi Old Quarter is, how magnificent its Ban Gioc Waterfall and so on. And if it has not been included in your list of places where you did visit, you perhaps would like to add it to your wish-list.
In this post, we will not introduce to you about how beautiful the country is, but we will guide you how easy to obtain a visa to visit it with Vietnam visa on arrival.
A short comparison
In the event you obtained a visa on arrival for Cambodia, please don’t mix it with visa on arrival to Vietnam and consider them the same in application process.
While to obtain a visa on arrival for Cambodia, you only need to reach its border gate, complete the form there for the visa. But it is completely different in case of visa on arrival for Vietnam for which you need to obtain a visa approval letter beforehand and then get visa stamped upon arrival at Vietnam airport.
Another big difference between this kind of visa to the two countries is that while visa on arrival for Cambodia still works in border gates, Vietnam visa on arrival works at 5 international airports in Vietnam only (Noi Bai – Hanoi, Cat Bi – Hai Phong, Da Nang – Da Nang, Cam Ranh – Khanh Hoa, and Tan Son Nhat – Ho Chi Minh City).
Now, let’s see in details how to get a Vietnam visa on arrival
Important remark for this kind of visa is that it is although issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department, the travelers cannot directly work with them, but through a local travel agent. Among them, we highly recommend Vietnam-visa.com which well organize their information and provide great assistance 24/7.
They have briefly described the entire process to get a visa on arrival for Vietnam as follows:
Complete the secured online form
In this step, you do not need to attach any document, but provide your information only, including:
- Visa information (purpose of visit, type of visa, arrival airport, arrival date, exit date);
- Contact information (name, email and phone number);
- Applicant’s information (full name, nationality, gender, passport number and passport expiry date).
That’s all for step 1. And then move to step 2.
Pay for service fee online
In this step, you need to do nothing except for reviewing your information and making payment of service fee via online portals including PayPal, OnePay with your cards.
Receive visa approval letter via email
After 2 working days after your submission of application to Vietnam-visa or even faster depending on your choice, you will receive a visa approval letter delivered to your registered email together with detailed guide to get visa stamped.
After receiving it, you only need to print it out and prepare other items as guided in the message and wait for your trip.
Get visa stamped
This is the final step in this process. After landing at Vietnam airport, you need to head to the Vietnam Visa on arrival/Landing Visa Counter there, show your documents (passport, visa approval letter, Vietnamese visa application form sent together with the letter to your email & glued with your photos, stamping fee) to the immigration officer to get visa stamped and complete the visa procedure and ready for your trip to Vietnam.
Do you see it easy and convenient as it requires you no travel at all to complete the application. However, this kind of visa exists a big limitation that it is for those traveling to Vietnam only. So, in case you travel to Vietnam by other means of transport, please refer to the way of obtaining the visa at Vietnam embassy.
